Client Installation:

The new MSI installer for GroupWise 7 has removed the ability to install the GroupWise Windows client as a "Workstation Only" copy. The ramifications for this are at least threefold:

1. PCs that do not have enough space for the GroupWise 7 client will need to keep the older client as "Workstation Only" until space can be made available.

2. The initial installation will most likely fail. Even though the installation will not allow for a Workstation Only installation, it seems to honor the location of the client installed on the PC. So, you will find that if the location of the Workstation Only installation is Read-Only, the installation will fail because no files can be copied. Upon the second try, the installer seems to understand that it cannot install to the network location, and will install to C:

3. If your Workstation Only location is NOT read-only, the first user to attempt to install the GroupWise 7 client might very well overright the copy on the server.

4. If you use the setup.cfg and fix the location of your installation, you should avoid these update issues, although the local workstation will need enough space for the installation.
